Just a short hop over the River Severn from iconic Ironbridge, is the vibrant town of Broseley.
The town has strong links with the early industrial revolution and by the beginning of the 17th century, the town was a thriving industrial settlement with close links to Coalbrookdale. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it developed into a major centre for coal mining, iron and earthenware manufacture as well as a variety of associated activities.
The famous Iron Bridge was built in 1779 to link Broseley with Coalbrookdale and led to the foundation of the town Ironbridge, now part of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage site.
Though these industries have since disappeared from the area there are still plenty of reminders of the role of Broseley in the early industrial revolution.
Throughout town, there are several significant buildings and examples of architecture spanning three centuries including the restored Pipeworks Museum: one of the ten Ironbridge Gorge Museums.
Just beyond Broseley lies Benthall Hall, a National Trust property dating back to the 16th Century. The place Benthall itself was recorded in the Domesday Book as part of Wenlock and belonged to Wenlock Priory.
